Coach Jess – The Heart of Kinetic Training LLC
Coach Jess wears many hats at Kinetic Training LLC—and she wears them all with a smile. A Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor, Jess brings energy, expertise, and dedication to every class and session she leads. But her role doesn’t stop there—she’s also the day-to-day maintenance tech at the gym, ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.
As a white belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Jess is constantly pushing herself to grow and learn, setting an inspiring example for everyone around her.
When she’s not leading workouts or fine-tuning equipment, Jess is embracing the wild Alaskan outdoors. She’s a proud mother of three kids, and together they share a love for camping under the summer sun and moose hunting in the fall.
Jess’s blend of professional expertise, hands-on practicality, and nurturing care makes her an essential pillar of the Kinetic Training community. Whether she’s leading a class, fixing gym equipment, or setting up a tent in the Alaskan wilderness, Coach Jess embodies resilience, dedication, and heart.
Coach Krista – The Mastermind Behind the Scenes
Coach Krista is not just a Certified Group Fitness Instructor but also an essential part of the Kinetic Training LLC heartbeat. With a knack for assisting in implementing personal training plans, Krista brings structure, care, and enthusiasm to every session she’s involved in.
As Coach Randy’s wife, she’s often referred to as the true mastermind behind the scenes, ensuring everything runs smoothly both in and out of the gym.
Beyond her professional expertise, Krista is a devoted mother of two adventurous boys and an eager student herself—currently honing her skills as a white belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
When she’s not coaching or planning, you’ll find Krista embracing the great Alaskan outdoors. She loves 4-wheeling and hiking in the summer, and when winter sets in, she’s all about snow machining and snowboarding.
Krista’s warm spirit, dedication, and passion for helping others make her an irreplaceable part of the Kinetic Training family. Whether she’s in the gym, on the trails, or managing behind the scenes, Krista’s influence is felt everywhere.
Coach Randy – The Driving Force Behind Kinetic Training LLC & Dark Days BJJ
As the owner and visionary behind Kinetic Training LLC, Coach Randy has dedicated his life to empowering others through fitness, discipline, and community. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports and Health Science, specializing in Exercise Science, Randy blends academic expertise with hands-on coaching to guide clients toward sustainable results.
Randy holds multiple certifications through NASM, including:

✅ Youth Exercise Specialist
✅ Corrective Exercise Specialist
On the mats, Randy is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Blue Belt, and he leads the Kids BJJ Program under Professor Carlos. Known for his energy, patience, and dedication, Randy helps young students build confidence, discipline, and foundational BJJ skills while fostering a love for the art.
A veteran of the United States Army Infantry, Randy’s leadership style reflects his military background—strong, focused, and always leading by example. Whether he’s in the weight room, on the mats, or mentoring the next generation, Randy brings an undeniable passion to everything he does.
When he’s not training, coaching, or competing, Randy is spending quality time with his two adventurous boys, often finding creative ways to drive Mom crazy with their wild family adventures.
Coach Randy isn’t just a leader; he’s the heart and soul of Kinetic Training LLC and Dark Days BJJ, inspiring those around him to push past their limits and strive for excellence every single day.
Professor Carlos – The Guardian of Discipline and Growth
Professor Carlos is the Head Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Instructor at Dark Days BJJ, bringing decades of experience, discipline, and passion to the mats. A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, he’s not only a master technician but also an inspiring mentor to students of all ages and skill levels.
His dedication to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has taken him around the world, where he’s had the privilege of training and competing on international stages against some of the best grapplers in the sport. From high-stakes tournaments to intensive training camps, Professor Carlos has refined his skills under world-renowned instructors and gained invaluable experience in diverse competitive environments.
Beyond his role at the gym, Professor Carlos serves as an Active Duty Military Police Officer at Fort Greely, where his dedication to excellence earned him the prestigious title of Missile Defender of the Year. His military career has also equipped him with advanced hand-to-hand combat skills as a Master Trainer Certified Modern Army Combatives Instructor, further enhancing his ability to teach practical and effective self-defense techniques.
Whether he’s coaching students through complex grappling techniques, preparing them for competition, or fostering a positive training culture, Professor Carlos leads with discipline, integrity, and respect—values deeply rooted in both his military and martial arts background.
Off the mats, Professor Carlos is a role model for perseverance, balance, and personal growth. His unwavering commitment to both his students and his military duties sets a standard of excellence that few can match.

Coach Hannah – The Heart of Dark Days BJJ
Coach Hannah is a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, proudly earning her rank under Professor Carlos. As one of the original students of Dark Days BJJ, she has been part of the academy’s journey from the very beginning, growing from a dedicated student into a respected coach and mentor.
When she’s not on the mats training or leading women’s classes, Hannah serves her community as a volunteer firefighter, showing courage, resilience, and a deep commitment to helping others.
Outside of training and volunteering, you’ll often find Hannah exploring the Alaskan wilderness with her dogs, finding peace and adventure in the mountains she calls home.
Her passion for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, her dedication to empowering women through martial arts, and her selfless service to her community make Coach Hannah an irreplaceable part of Dark Days BJJ. She’s not just a coach—she’s an inspiration to everyone who steps onto the mats.
Coach Janette – The Creative Force of Dark Days BJJ
Coach Janette is a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, earning her rank under Professor Carlos. As one of the original students of Dark Days BJJ, she has been a driving force in building the academy’s culture of resilience, respect, and empowerment.
When she’s not teaching women’s classes or collecting medals at tournaments, Janette stays equally busy at home. As a dedicated homeschooling mom, she balances discipline on the mats with patience and creativity in the classroom.
Life on her homestead is filled with camping adventures, cozy movie nights, and embracing the simple joys of everyday living. Janette’s creativity doesn’t stop there—she’s also incredibly skilled in crafting and design. From custom apparel to unique gym gear, you can even grab your own custom Kinetic Training LLC or Dark Days BJJ gear designed by Janette herself.
Her ability to balance strength, strategy, and creativity both on and off the mats makes her an indispensable part of the Dark Days family. Coach Janette doesn’t just teach technique—she empowers, inspires, and builds connections that extend far beyond the gym.
Coach Josh – The Mentor on the Mats
Coach Josh is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Purple Belt under Professor Sam Brown from SBA in Idaho. As the secondary instructor for Dark Days BJJ, Josh steps in seamlessly when Professor Carlos is unavailable, ensuring classes continue with the same high standard of instruction and care.
Though he’s been with Dark Days BJJ for just over a year, Josh has quickly become a mentor and role model to everyone on the team. His dedication to the art and his passion for teaching competition-proven techniques shine through in every class he leads.
An active competitor, Josh thrives on the challenge of the tournament mats and brings that same competitive spirit into his teaching, helping students develop the skills, mindset, and confidence to perform at their best under pressure.
When he’s not coaching or training, you’ll likely find Josh in the weight room fine-tuning his strength and conditioning or exploring the Alaskan wilderness with his family—hunting, hiking, and discovering everything the area has to offer.
